After breakfast, journey to Anuradhapura, the first ancient capital of Sri Lanka, known as one of the most sacred Buddhist cities in the world. The vast ruins of this ancient city are home to some of the oldest and most significant Buddhist relics and stupas, drawing thousands of devotees seeking blessings and enlightenment. Spend two days exploring the timeless beauty and spiritual depth of Anuradhapura’s ancient monasteries, stupas, and temples.

On the final day of your pilgrimage, depart from Anuradhapura and travel to Polonnaruwa, the second great capital of Sri Lanka, which flourished in the 11th and 12th centuries. This ancient city is home to well-preserved Buddhist statues, stupas, and monasteries, showcasing the rich history of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Sacred Highlights in Polonnaruwa: 🛕 Gal Vihara – A stunning collection of four massive Buddha statues carved from a single rock, depicting the Buddha in different postures: standing, reclining, and meditating. This is considered one of the finest examples of ancient Buddhist sculpture in South Asia. 🛕 Vatadage – A beautifully preserved circular relic house that once housed the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha. 🛕 Lankatilaka Temple – A magnificent image house featuring a giant standing Buddha statue. 🛕 Rankoth Vehera – A grand stupa built in the style of Anuradhapura’s Ruwanwelisaya, symbolizing the continued influence of Buddhist architecture. After exploring Polonnaruwa, continue your journey to Kandy, the cultural and spiritual heart of Sri Lanka. Kandy is home to Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth Relic), one of the most revered Buddhist temples in the world, enshrining the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.
